Terrible Nighttime Accident: Freight Trains Collide on Bridge in Munich

Last night, a shocking accident occurred in the heart of Munich, Germany. Two freight trains collided during a shunting maneuver on a railway bridge. This severe collision caused two freight cars to fall from the bridge onto Schleißheimer Straße below, in the Milbertshofen district. The impact was so strong that the cars broke in the middle – one part of the cars crashed onto the street and was heavily damaged, while the other part was left hanging dangerously over the edge of the bridge.

According to initial information, the freight trains were unloaded at the time of the accident. One person with serious injuries was reported in connection with the incident. The responsible authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the cause of the accident.

Schleißheimer Straße, an important traffic artery in Munich, was completely closed for safety reasons, leading to significant traffic problems. According to a fire department spokesperson, the recovery of the cars and the clearing of the accident site could take several hours or even days.

Despite the dramatic circumstances, regional and long-distance services of Deutsche Bahn are not affected, as the accident occurred on a route used exclusively for freight transport.

Fortunately, it should be noted that the accident happened in the early morning hours, when the street under the bridge was relatively empty. In daylight, this could have led to even more serious consequences. The investigation will have to determine whether the accident was caused by a technical failure or human error.
