Venezuela in Distress: Earthquake Alarm and State of Emergency

The government of Venezuela has declared a state of emergency after powerful earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 shook the northern coast. More than 20 aftershocks have already been recorded. Major airports are closed, rail services and schools have been temporarily suspended. Experts fear that the death toll could rise into the tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands.
